Love is;
        Kissing with morning breath,
Love is;
        Brushing teeth in unison,
Love is;
        One cleans one cooks,
Love is;
        Eskimo kisses in firelight,
Love is;
        His and her dressing gowns,
Love is;
        Marital picture adorned walls,
Love is;
        Continuously sought after by many,
Love is;
        As real as the tooth fairy.

I wanted that english school style gcse type poem, one with obvious meaning, easy on the eye.

I wanted to fill it with things that concern me and my partner and then glitter that with these modern clichés that people expect from love that doesn't neccissarily exist with love.

I think it's obvious what the universal meaning is, you have to work at love, it isn't something that can be pinned down, it's different for us all.

I like the last line. Because the tooth fairy, when I was little, forgot to come. So I wanted to make sure that my sister didn't get dissapointed. I was the tooth fairy, so I think that makes love, even if it's hard to find, and keep. It will still be there.

I tear my heart open. I sew myself shut. My weakness is, that I care too much. And my scars remind me, that the past is real. I tear my heart open, just to feel.

Actually I love it. It's so joyful and full of hope at the beginning... Until you read the last line and start to really think about it...

I used to write English poems myself. But I've fallen back to my first language again... Anyway, great poem. Something really worth thinking about.
